Our Review Process
At DrBook, every textbook review follows a consistent, transparent process. We want you to know exactly how we evaluate books and compare prices so you can trust our recommendations.
Step 1: Selection
We prioritize reviewing textbooks that are:
- Widely assigned across multiple colleges and universities
- Expensive (where savings have the most impact)
- Frequently updated (where edition confusion is common)
- Requested by our readers
Step 2: Content Evaluation
We assess each textbook on:
- Clarity of writing – Is it accessible to the target audience?
- Organization – Is information easy to find and follow?
- Supplementary materials – Are online resources, practice problems, and study aids included?
- Currency – Is the information up-to-date and relevant?
Step 3: Price Comparison
For every textbook, we check prices across:
- Amazon (new, used, rental, Kindle)
- Chegg (rental and purchase)
- AbeBooks (used copies)
- Campus bookstore averages
- Publisher direct pricing
Step 4: Value Rating
We rate each textbook on a scale that considers both content quality and price. A great textbook at a terrible price gets a lower rating than a good textbook at a fair price. We believe value for money is what matters most to students.
Step 5: Edition Analysis
When possible, we compare the current edition with previous editions to identify meaningful changes. If the differences are minimal, we’ll tell you – and recommend saving money with an older edition.
Prices Update Regularly
Textbook prices change frequently. We update our price comparisons regularly, but always click through to the retailer to confirm the current price before purchasing.
